Street Project to Close 72nd, Coolidge

A road replacement project will close 72nd Avenue and Coolidge Road for nearly two weeks.

On Monday, May 11th, City of Yakima crews will begin removing and then replacing the roadway on the two streets. Both streets will be closed from May 11th through Friday, May 22nd.

A flagger will be on site to assist drivers during the project work hours of 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Detours will be in place. Traffic on 72nd Avenue will be routed through Washington Avenue. Traffic on Coolidge Road will be routed through 80th Avenue.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

The project may cause interruptions in scheduled refuse collection. Contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 575-6005 for more information.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
