Stump Grinding to Impact Traffic on Walnut Street

A stump grinding project will close one lane on portions of Walnut Street from tomorrow, Thursday, March 1st, through Friday, March 2nd.

The curbside westbound lane of Walnut Street will be closed from Second Street to First Street and First Street to Front Avenue. The closure is in effect from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm both tomorrow and Friday.

Traffic restrictions will be in place while the project is underway.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

The stump removal project is following up on work conducted last week by City of Yakima crews to remove trees on portions of Walnut Street.
