Track Removal to Close 3rd Avenue

Work to remove a traffic hazard will temporarily close a section of 3rd Avenue this Friday, January 26th.

From 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26th City of Yakima crews will remove a section of trolley track that poses a hazard to motorists at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Pine Street.

The project will require closing both southbound lanes of 3rd Avenue from Walnut Street to Division Street from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During that same time, northbound traffic on 3rd Avenue will be reduced to one lane in the work area.

Signage, detours, and flaggers will be present to guide motorists during the trolley track removal project.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
