Walking Tour Seeks Input on Pedestrian Access

The City of Yakima Planning Division is offering two walking tours for the City’s first Pedestrian Master Plan.

Tours will be this Thursday, August 12th, at the following times and locations:

  • 9:00 am to 10:00 am starting at the Capitol Theatre and looping around a small portion of Downtown Yakima.
  • 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm starting at Yakima Valley Museum, and looping a small portion of the Barge Chestnut neighborhood.

During the tours, City officials and members of the City of Yakima Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will discuss walking in Yakima and incorporate public feedback into final segments of the Pedestrian Master Plan.

Both tours are open to the public. An RSVP is not necessary, but those wishing to do so can contact Associate Planner Trevor Martin at 575-6162 or trevor.martin@yakimawa.gov

“We want to know the community’s thoughts on pedestrian access throughout the City, from things that are working well, to areas that need improvement,” said Martin. “I’m hoping during the walking tours we can have some open, candid conversations about walking in Yakima.”
