Water Project to Impact Traffic, Residents on South 18th Street

A project to replace existing water main and water utility services will restrict traffic on a section of South 18th Street on Wednesday, October 27th.

Total Site Services, Inc. of Richland will be making final water line connections in the intersection of South 18th Street and East Viola Avenue on Wednesday. South 18th Street will be restricted to one lane of traffic in the area of East Viola Avenue. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic through the work area. Work is expected to begin Wednesday at approximately 9:00 am and be completed by 4:00 pm.

Local access to residents and businesses will continue to be maintained. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area when necessary.

The work on Wednesday is part of a project that includes replacing an aging water line and water services along East Viola Avenue between South Fair Avenue and Rudkin Road.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily depending on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
