Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Yakima

The National Weather Service (“NWS”) has issued a winter weather advisory for the Yakima area. It is in effect from 11:00 am tomorrow, Tuesday, January 8th through 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9th.

The advisory states that a winter storm will bring widespread precipitation Tuesday and Tuesday night. A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected throughout the area, the NWS said.

Total snow accumulation may reach 2 to 4 inches and it’s expected ice accumulations may reach one-tenth of an inch.

The City of Yakima urges residents to use caution when driving during the weather advisory and to limit travel if possible. The NWS advises drivers to anticipate slippery road conditions.
