Yakima City Council January 2nd Business Meeting Review

The Yakima City Council held a regular business meeting yesterday, Tuesday, January 2nd.

Action by the Council on January 2nd included:

  • Electing Kathy Coffey to serve as mayor and Dulce Gutiérrez to serve as assistant mayor for 2018-2019.
  • Administering the Oath of Office for 3 newly elected City Council members.
  • Issuing a proclamation commemorating Yakima’s historic name change.
  • Receiving a report on the Yakima Central Plaza’s fundraising status, and receiving a check of more than $9.6 million in private funds raised for the project by the Plaza Committee.

Yakima City Council meetings air live on Charter Cable Channel 194. The January 2nd meeting will be replayed at 7:00 pm tonight, January 3rd. The meeting will be shown again at 9:00 am on the following Saturday and Sunday, January 6th and 7th.

The Council’s next regular business meeting will be at 6:00 pm Tuesday, January 16th.

The meeting will be in Council Chambers at Yakima City Hall, 129 North Second Street.
