The Yakima City Council held a study session on Tuesday, March 26th at Yakima City Hall.

At the study session on March 26th the Council:

– Endorsed an option to deal with future jail needs that would maintain the current City jail and allow for contracting additional inmate bed space with Sunnyside, Toppenish, and YakimaCounty.  The projected $600,000 annual savings would be dedicated to future public safety facilities construction needs.

– Supported a moratorium on new billboards for six months to allow time to review sign and development standards.

Yakima City Council study sessions are aired live on, Y-PAC, Charter Cable Channel 22.  Replays of the meeting are also available on Y-PAC and on the City of Yakima website – www.yakimawa.gov
