Yakima City Council to Host Public Safety Forum

The Yakima City Council will host a public safety forum at 5:30 pm on Monday, December 10th, at the Harman Center, 101 North 65th Avenue.

Councilmember Holly Cousens (District 7) called for the forum during the City Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, December 4th. The Council approved the forum during the December 4th meeting.

“I think it’s important we give District 7 a voice in improving public safety in the West Valley area of town and hope that we can come to some solutions,” said Cousens. “The input we receive from the community will help the City address public safety concerns.”

The forum will be an open, special meeting of the Yakima City Council.

For more information about the neighborhood forum next Monday, contact Yakima City Councilmember Holly Cousens at 823-0444.

In 2017 and 2018, the City Council held a series of 10 public safety forums throughout Yakima in order to gather feedback from community members as part of developing a long-term strategy addressing violence and crime. The results of those forums in a question-and-answer format can be found at https://yakimapolice.org/yakima-public-safety-forum/
