Yakima Health District News Release: COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Doses Available for All Adults 18 Years and Older

On November 29, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded its COVID-19 vaccine booster dose eligibility to include all adults 18 years and older. Starting today, the Yakima Health District mobile vaccine teams will begin administering Pfizer COVID-19 booster doses to all adults 18 years and older.

Individuals who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine can receive a booster dose after six months have passed since completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series. For those that received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, they can receive a booster dose after two months have passed since completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.

According to the CDC, mixing and matching boosters is safe and effective. Individuals can choose which COVID-19 vaccine they receive for their booster dose. The COVID-19 vaccines continue to be highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death.
