Yakima Municipal Court is alerting the public to a scam involving fraudulent text messages that falsely claim recipients will face license suspension or additional fees if payment is not made.
“The Court does not send text messages threatening the imposition of fees or driver’s license suspension for failure to make a payment,” said Court Services Manager Eva Heitzman. “These messages are not authorized by the Court and should be considered suspicious.”
Anyone who receives such a message is strongly advised not to respond, click on any links, or provide personal or financial information.
“These messages are likely part of a scam attempt to deceive recipients into sharing sensitive data or making unauthorized payments,” said Heitzman.
