Yakima’s Blockbuster video store raised hundreds of dollars from local residents to support the Yakima Fire Department’s Rehabilitation/Hydration Support Vehicle. This apparatus is used by the fire department to provide relief to firefighters while they are engaged in fire suppression and emergency incident events.
The efforts by the staff at Blockbuster Video are very timely given this year’s hot and dry summer season in the Yakima Valley. Store employee and event organizer Casandra Limmer stated to fire officials, “You guys have been going through a lot lately and we think you could use a little help”.
Blockbuster employees used the fundraiser proceeds to purchase energy bars and other healthy snacks from a local supermarket, which were then donated to the fire department’s rehab unit.
The men and women of the Yakima Fire Department would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to staff of Yakima’s Blockbuster Video and also to the caring patrons whose donations made this effort possible.
