Car-Motorcycle Accident Leaves Yakima Man Injured

A 40-year-old Yakima man was injured late in the evening on Tuesday, October 23rd when the motorcycle he was riding struck a car near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 3rd Avenue.

Brian Sampson was riding his motorcycle in a westbound lane of Lincoln Avenue when Yakima Police Department (“YPD”) officers suspect he ran a red light.  At approximately 11:52 pm, Sampson’s motorcycle collided with a car that was heading westbound on 3rd Avenue.  YPD officers also suspect Sampson may have been speeding at the time of the accident.

Sampson was initially taken to a local hospital but was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of a serious leg injury and possible broken arm.  Information about Sampson’s current condition is not available.

The driver of the car that was hit by Sampson’s motorcycle was not injured in the accident.

A search warrant was obtained and blood samples were taken from Sampson based on the suspicion of police that Sampson may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident.
