Cars Need to Be Removed from Snow Routes by 8:00 pm

Yesterday brought several inches of snow to the Yakima area. As a result, City of Yakima crews will work to clear remaining snow from roadways throughout today and this evening.

To help make removing snow as efficient and safe as possible along designated snow routes, the City is requiring car owners to remove their vehicles from snow routes by no later than 8:00 pm today.

The snow routes are primarily centered in the downtown core. Cars can be moved from snow routes to any street not posted as a snow route or to any City public parking lot.
Cars that are not removed from designated snow routes can be towed and their owners fined up to $50 per violation.

While plowing operations are underway later this evening, portions of streets in the Downtown Yakima core that serve as designated snow routes may be closed temporarily to allow crews unobstructed access. Drivers are encouraged to avoid designated snow routes in the Downtown Yakima area from 8:00 pm today until early tomorrow morning.
