Catch Basin and Pipe Installation Project to Impact Traffic on Modesto Way

A stormwater project involving the installation of one new catch basin and 90 linear feet of storm drain pipe will impact traffic on a section of Modesto Way from Tuesday, October 23rd through Thursday, October 25th. Work on the project will take place from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm each day.

While the project is underway, only local traffic will be allowed on the portion of Modesto Way between 48th and 50th Avenues.

A catch basin is a key component of a drainage system. Catch basins come in various sizes and are placed along the curb line to capture stormwater runoff. The runoff is then piped to either a nearby stream, or, in this case, to an underground drain field where the runoff soaks into the ground.

Drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
