Catch Basin Repair to Impact Traffic on 16th Ave

A catch basin repair project will disrupt traffic in the southbound lanes of a portion of South 16th  Avenue on Wednesday, November 29th.  Work on the project will take place from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm that day.

Traffic on South 16th Avenue between Browne Avenue and Summitview Avenue will be restricted to one lane while the project is underway.  Traffic will be channeled through the construction zone.

A catch basin is a key component of a drainage system. Catch basins come in various sizes and are placed in the ground near areas where standing water may accumulate and help to facilitate proper water drainage and avoid property damage.

Due to heavy traffic volume, drivers can expect delays in the project area.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For more information about the project, contact Wastewater Collections Supervisor Robert Brown at 575-6077.
