City Manager Accepts WSU Extension Director Job in Jefferson County

Yakima City Manager Cliff Moore has accepted the position of Washington State University (WSU) Extension Director for Jefferson County (Port Townsend is the county seat of Jefferson County).  Moore’s last day on the job as Yakima City Manager will be August 20th.

Moore was hired by the Yakima City Council to serve as Yakima City Manager in May 2016.  He officially began his tenure in July 2016.

Moore worked for WSU earlier in his career.  Moore was the WSU Extension Director in Thurston County, the same position he will now hold in Jefferson County, from 2004 to 2009.  Prior to that, he served as the Associate Director of WSU distance degree programs from 1991 to 2004.

Moore became the Thurston County Department of Resource Stewardship Director in 2009, a position he held until 2013 when he was hired as the Thurston County Manager.  Moore served as Thurston County Manager for three years before being hired by the City of Yakima.

“It has been an honor to serve as Yakima City Manager,” Moore said.  “I have been so fortunate to work alongside an extraordinarily talented and dedicated team of City employees.  I’m also grateful for the support I’ve received throughout my tenure from so many Yakima community members,” said Moore.

The Yakima City Council will meet in the near future to determine how to fill the city manager job in the short term and what process will be used to hire a new city manager.
