Curb Replacement Project on 6th Avenue to Impact Traffic

A curb replacement project will impact traffic along several blocks of 6th Avenue on Tuesday, August 16th and Wednesday, August 17th.

The project will take place on 6th Avenue between Hathaway Street and River Road and will involve removing old and deteriorated curbing along the west side of 6th Avenue and replacing it with new curbing.

Work on the project will take place between 6:00 am and 3:30 pm each day on August 16th and August 17th. While the project is underway, the southbound lane of 6th Avenue between Hathaway Street and River Road will be closed to traffic.  Traffic along that section of 6th Avenue will be reduced to one lane.  Flaggers will be on site to help drivers navigate through the project area.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
