Damage to a house in the 1800 block of South 8th Avenue in Yakima is estimated to be about $50,000 following a fire Wednesday evening. (It is the practice of the Yakima Fire Department to not release the specific address of a private home involved in a fire or other emergency response)
Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded to a call of a house fire in the 1800 block of South 8th Avenue at about 7:30 pm Wednesday. When YFD crews arrived, they were immediately contacted by the two people who lived in the house and were told no one else was in the house.
The house, which was extensively damaged by fire, smoke, and water, is estimated to be worth about $100,000. The two people displaced by the fire are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
