The Yakima community is invited to attend “Our America Celebrates 250 Years,” a free, family-friendly event commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The celebration will be held on Saturday, June 13th, from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Franklin Park, 2101 Tieton Drive, Yakima.
As part of the Washington 250/America 250 initiative, this special event will bring history to life through interactive exhibits, living-history demonstrations, and educational presentations designed to engage visitors of all ages.
Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to step back in time and experience early American life. Historical interpreters in period attire—including portrayals of George Washington, John Hancock, and other men and women from the Revolutionary era—will share stories and demonstrations that illustrate the challenges and achievements of America’s founding generation.
The celebration will begin with a parade at 9:45 a.m. and continue with a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations, including musket drills, basket weaving, candle making, spinning, lace making, military arms demonstrations, and presentations about daily life 250 years ago.
“Our America Celebrates 250 Years” offers a unique opportunity for families, students, and history enthusiasts to experience the sights, sounds, and stories of early America in an engaging and memorable setting.
