Joint City Council, School Board Meeting Rescheduled to January

A joint meeting of the Yakima City Council and the Yakima School District Board of Directors that had been scheduled to take place at 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 15th at the School District’s Central Offices will be rescheduled for a date yet to be decided in January.

A few members of the City Council and the School District Board of Directors were unable to attend the joint meeting scheduled for December 15th. Because of that, the meeting will be moved to a date in January.

In March of this year, the City Council and the School District Board of Directors held a joint meeting to specifically discuss homelessness and its effects on both the City and the School District. At that time, the Council and the School District Board expressed interest in conducting joint meetings in the future to discuss that and other common issues.

It has not yet been decided when the joint City Council-School District Board of Directors meeting will take place in January. Once the date has been determined, the City and the School District will provide notice to the community.

If anyone has questions regarding the rescheduling of the joint Yakima City Council-Yakima School District Board of Directors meeting that was to take place on December 15th, they should contact the City’s Communications & Public Affairs Director Randy Beehler by phone (901-1142) or by e-mail (randy.beehler@yakimawa.gov).
