Lincoln Avenue Between 32nd and 40th Being Repaved

In 2013 and 2014, the City of Yakima invested about $20 million to repave nearly 120 lane miles of roads as part of its ambitious grind and overlay project. Effective budget management of the project has allowed the City to add a section of Lincoln Avenue to the repaving list. Over the next month, the portion of Lincoln between 32nd Avenue and 40th Avenue will be the site of significant road reconstruction, which will result in a new street surface that will extend the life of that section of Lincoln by several years.

The repaving of Lincoln between 32nd and 40th will begin on Monday, May 4th and is expected to be completed by the end of May or early June. Throughout most of the project, that section of Lincoln will be closed each day from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Local traffic will be allowed on that portion of Lincoln when feasible. Detours around the project area will utilize Summitview Avenue and Englewood Avenue.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be impacted, but will be maintained when possible. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
