One-Block Portion of Barge Street to be Repaved

A one-block section of Barge Street will be closed to all traffic for most of this week while the roadway is prepared for repaving. From Tuesday, February 10th through Friday, February 13th, Barge between 48th Avenue and 49th Avenue will be closed while crews from the City of Yakima Streets & Traffic Division remove deteriorating asphalt and lay new gravel in advance of the road being repaved.

Once local area asphalt plants begin operation later this year, the one-block section of Barge will be repaved.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be impacted, but will be maintained when possible. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
