Police Asking for Help in Locating 2nd Degree Murder Suspect

Yakima police are asking for the community’s help locating a suspect in a murder that took place in October of last year.

On November 18th, 2021, a 2nd degree murder arrest warrant was issued for 17-year-old Solomon DeAlba for his alleged participation in the murder of Joey Cantu.

On October 30, 2021 at about 5:30 am, 9-1-1 calltakers received a report from a male who said subjects in a car shot at him and his friend in the area of the 400 block of West Chestnut Avenue.  The caller said his friend had been shot.

Patrol officers located 34-year-old Cantu in the west alley of South 4th Avenue and West Chestnut Avenue. Cantu was unconscious and bleeding severely from several gunshot wounds. Officers performed CPR on Cantu until paramedics arrived. He died at the scene.

DeAlba is approximately 5’06” tall and weighs around 140 lbs. There is information he may be hiding in the Yakima or Tacoma area. A link to a photo of DeAlba is below.
