Road Improvement Project on 9th Street to Impact Traffic

A road improvement project will impact traffic along a section of 9th Street on Thursday, September 15th.

The project will take place on 9th Street between Yakima Avenue and Chestnut Avenue and will involve removing old and deteriorated asphalt and repaving a section of the street.

Work on the project will take place between 6:00 am and 3:00 pm on September 15th. While the project is underway, the section of 9th Street between Yakima Avenue and Chestnut Avenue will be closed to traffic.  Detour routes around the project area will be available and will be marked with appropriate signage.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
