Road Repair Project to Impact Traffic on Ahtanum

A road repair project will impact traffic on a section of Ahtanum Road for part of the day on Wednesday, May 2nd.

As a result of the project, the westbound lane of Ahtanum between 16th Avenue and 26th Avenue will be closed on May 2nd from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Detour routes will be in place to allow drivers to avoid the project area.  Westbound traffic will be detoured from Ahtanum north on 16th Avenue to Washington Avenue, then onto 48th Avenue/Spring Creek Road before returning to Ahtanum Road.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
