From Monday, October 1st through Friday, October 5th, the section of Naches Avenue between SST Pendleton Way and MLK, Jr. Boulevard will be closed during daytime hours while a road repair and grind and overlay paving project is underway.
During the project, the portion of Naches Avenue between SST Pendleton Way and MLK, Jr. Boulevard will be closed from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm each day. Detour routes around the project area will be in in place and flaggers will be on site to assist in directing traffic.
In addition to road repairs, the project will include grinding and overlaying the street. Grinding and overlaying a road involves removing old and deteriorated asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt. Once the process is completed, the drivability and safety of a road surface is significantly improved.
During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.
Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project areas if necessary.
As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
For additional information regarding these projects, contact Streets and Traffic Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
