Road Repairs to Impact Traffic on Walnut Street

Beginning on Thursday, August 1st, traffic will be disrupted on the section of Walnut Street between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue through Thursday, August 8th while road repairs are made.

On Thursday, August 1st from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, traffic on that section of Walnut will be limited to one lane in each direction while old asphalt is removed.  The roadway may be closed to all traffic intermittently throughout the day.

On Monday, August 5th, the section of Walnut between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue will be closed to all traffic from 5:00 am until 5:00 pm to allow crews to remove railroad tracks that are no longer being used.  There will be no access to Walnut between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue, including for emergency vehicles.   While the road is closed, traffic will be detoured to Yakima Avenue.

On Thursday, August 8th, traffic on the section of Walnut involved in the project will again be limited to one lane in each direction from 6:00 am until 4:00 pm while new asphalt is laid.

While the road repair work is underway, traffic delays in the project area will occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is complete.

Access to homes and businesses in the project areas will be maintained as best as possible during the project.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
