Tree Removal on 9th Avenue to Impact Traffic

A tree removal project on 9th Avenue will impact traffic along a one-block section of the street for most of each day on Tuesday, August 23rd and Wednesday, August 24th.

Crews will be working to remove a large tree located in public right-of-way on the west side of the street in the 200 block of 9th Avenue from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm on both August 23rd and August 24th.  In order to ensure the highest degree of safety for both crews and the public, the section of 9th Avenue between Walnut Street and Spruce Street will be closed during work hours (6:00 am to 3:30 pm).  Detour routes around the project area will be available and will be marked with appropriate signage.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
