Two More Yakima Budget Town Halls to Take Place

Yakima City Manager Vicki Baker is hosting two more town hall meetings to discuss the City’s current General Fund budget challenges.

The next budget town hall meeting will take place on Thursday, April 10th at the Yakima Convention Center in Room G.  The town hall meeting will begin at 6:30 pm.

The third and final budget town hall meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 16th in the Kiva at Davis High School.  The town hall meeting in the Davis Kiva will begin at 6:30 pm.

Baker held the first budget town hall meeting on Monday, April 7th at the Harman Senior Center.

Baker is holding the town hall meetings as part of the City’s outreach efforts to learn from community members what their General Fund budget priorities are.  In addition to the town hall meetings, Baker has made presentations to numerous local service organizations and non-profits, an online survey about the budget challenges facing the City is open through April 30th, and outreach staff will be at various locations around town to help people take the survey.

Projections show the City could be facing a General Fund budget shortfall of up to $9 million in 2026.  The City Council will consider input and feedback received at the town hall meetings, the presentations Baker is making to service organizations and non-profits, and the budget survey to determine how best to address the projected shortfall.
