Water Projects Will Disrupt Traffic April 30th to May 3rd

Beginning on Tuesday, April 30th, traffic on both River Road between 6th Avenue and 16th Avenue and on 1st Street between A Street and MLK, Jr. Blvd will be disrupted while City of Yakima crews complete drinking water system projects in those two areas.  Work is expected to be completed by Friday, May 3rd.

The work being done on River Road will focus on relocating water lines in preparation for street improvements that will be made later this year.  The work on 1st Street is connected to a sidewalk, lighting, and landscaping project that will enhance the area around the Yakima County Courthouse.

During the projects, traffic delays in the areas are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the projects are completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the areas will be maintained and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project areas if necessary.

As always, schedules for these types of projects are subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information regarding these projects, contact Water Distribution Supervisor James Dean at 576-6154.
