City of Yakima Progress on Cowiche Canyon Trail

The City of Yakima’s Cowiche Canyon Trail project includes constructing a 10-foot wide graveled pedestrian pathway, with two bridges over Cowiche Creek from Powerhouse Road to the existing Cowiche Canyon Trailhead.  The trail will be approximately two miles long.  Funding for the project comes from a $2 million “Connecting Washington” grant. Harman Center Plans October Events

The community is invited to participate in a number of free activities at the City of Yakima Harman Center, 101 N. 65th Avenue, during the month of October. All will follow social distancing requirements due to COVID-19. Events include: Hands-Off Halloween Express – Friday, October 30th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm All ages are welcome


Pandemic Sparks Run on 96-Gallon Garbage Carts

Since February, the City of Yakima Solid Waste Division has seen an 11 percent increase in the tonnage generated by its residential customers.  To hold all this extra tonnage, customers have been requesting additional 96-gallon carts. “Normally, ordering additional carts does not stretch our resources. Water Line Work to Restrict Traffic on Lincoln Avenue

Water line work will result in traffic restrictions on Lincoln Avenue between 28th Avenue and 29th Avenue from Tuesday, September 29th through Wednesday, September 30th.  Work on the project will begin at 5:00 am and last until 3:30 pm each day. Traffic will be limited to one lane in both directions in the project area.
