Park Bathrooms Open May 1st

Bathrooms at the following City of Yakima parks will open to the public for the season beginning Friday, May 1st.  Kiwanis  Milroy  Gardner  Miller  Chesterley  Franklin  Kissel  Randall  West Valley  MLK Jr.  Restrooms should be open by 7:00 am and closed around 9:00 pm daily. The city is working with a security company to close park bathrooms each evening as they make their rounds.  Visitors


Project to Impact Traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd

Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be one lane each way between 4th Street and Naches Avenue from 9 am to 4 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, April 29th.  Lane closures are required for a stump grinding project to wrap up tree removal in the area last week.  Access will be maintained to properties in the project area.  Drivers are asked to consider alternate


Gilbert Drive Closure Extended

Gilbert Drive from Yakima Avenue to Barge Street will be closed one additional day through next Tuesday, April 28th, due to a project delay.  The project addresses drainage issues and repairs a section of roadway. It was originally scheduled to end Monday, April 27th, but the closure is extended through next Tuesday due to heavy rainfall earlier this week.  Access is maintained to adjacent properties

Project to Close Section of Gilbert Drive

Watch for Road, Lane Closures at Fair Ave/Nob Hill Intersection

Drivers are encountering the following at the intersection of Fair Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard starting this morning, Monday, April 13th, and continuing through the end of April:  The above closures are in effect 24/7 through April 30th. They are required so crews can complete roadway surfacing for a Nob Hill/Fair Avenue project that began last year.  Access is maintained

Washington State Declares Drought

A statewide drought (with limited exceptions) was declared April 8th, 2026, for the fourth consecutive year.
