Fourth Annual Blues and Local Brews Bash set for August 19th

The fourth annual Blues and Local Brews Bash returns to Yakima’s Historic North Front Street on Saturday, August 19th. The event will feature six bands performing a combined six hours of live blues music on two stages.

Otis Taylor of Boulder, Colorado is the headlining artist. Taylor, whose unique instrumentation includes banjo and cello, will take the Main Stage at 8:30 pm for a 90-minute concert. Guitar Player Magazine has called him “arguably the most relevant blues artist of our time.”

The event opens at 4:00 pm on August 19th with Alabama native Brett “Bad Blood” Benton taking the stage. The Ben Johnson Blues Company will make its debut performance at 4:50 pm.

Blues and “Rock Funk” trio JunkBelly, based in Wenatchee, is scheduled to appear next at 5:45 pm, followed by acoustic folk blues artist Jody Carroll at 6:40 pm.

Robin Barrett & Coyote Kings, also known as RBnCK, will perform with Tiphony Dames at 7:40 pm. RBnCK’s latest CD, “Howl,” won the 2015 Empire Award for Best Blues CD. Dames’ background includes singing at the Apollo Theater in Harlem when she was just 10 years old.

The Blues and Local Brews Bash will also feature nine Yakima-area breweries. Only people ages 21 and older will be allowed into the event. However, a free family viewing area will be accessible via Staff Sgt. Pendleton Avenue in front of North Town Coffee House.

Tickets for the Yakima Blues and Local Brews Bash can be purchased at the Capitol Theatre. Visit yakimablues.com for more information.
