Starting Wednesday, October 9th, sidewalks will be closed and there will be no parking in the vicinity of the former Bank of America building at the corner of 2nd Street and Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way.
City of Yakima crews will remove and replace sidewalks adjacent to the former bank building. In addition, trees will be planted to replace ones previously removed due to damage they caused.
A streetlight at the southwest corner of the intersection will also be replaced. Crews will add street lights at the front and side of the former Bank of America building.
There may be intermittent lane closures during the project.
The project, and related sidewalk/traffic impacts, are expected to continue through Thanksgiving week.
Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
Contact Street Maintenance Supervisor Jay Kendall at 509-576-6443 for more about the project.
