Section of Fair Avenue to Close for Sewer Main Project

A section of Fair Avenue will be closed to all traffic 24-hours-a-day for the next two to three weeks starting tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10th, while work related to the installation of a sewer main interceptor is underway.

Fair Avenue will be closed at Beech Street for the next phase of the sewer project. Sewer main interceptors receive wastewater from multiple main sewer lines and convey it to a treatment plant. Sewer main interceptors are the largest diameter lines in the sewer system and the furthest downstream in the system. Scout Lake Construction, a Selah-based contracting firm, began work in September on the first phase of the project on a section of Beech Street.

Traffic delays in the area are likely to occur during the project.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.  Detours around the work at the intersection of Beech Street and Fair Avenue will be posted at South 10th Street and East Maple Street.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.  Residents and businesses located near the project area have been directed to use side streets for access.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
