Traffic Revisions set for Chalk Art Festival

Miguel Cuevas’ Spider-Man won both the People’s Choice Award and Judges 1st Place Award during the 2018 Chalk Art Festival. This year’s theme: “My Favorite Movie.”

The 5th annual Downtown Yakima Chalk Art Festival will be held Saturday, October 12th. The event begins at 11:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm this Saturday.

The Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) is hosting the chalk art festival. It anticipates about 100 participants and more than 1,000 spectators for the event, which will be held on North 3rd Street between Yakima Avenue and Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way.

As a result, North 3rd Street will be closed to traffic from Yakima Avenue to Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way. In addition, Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way will be closed between 3rd Street and 2nd Street. The closures take effect this Saturday at 8:00 am, when set-up for the Chalk Art Festival will begin.

Access will be available for residents in the areas impacted by the closures.
