Tree Removal on 3rd Avenue to Continue Impacting Traffic

A tree removal project on 3rd Avenue has been extended and will continue to impact traffic along several blocks of the street for most of each day from Monday, July 25th through Friday, July 29th.

Crews will be working to remove trees located in public right-of-way on the west side of 3rd Avenue between Division Street and Nob Hill Boulevard from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm each day from July 25th through July 29th.  In order to ensure the highest degree of safety for both crews and the public, the southbound lanes of 3rd Avenue between Division Street and Nob Hill Boulevard will be closed during work hours (6:00 am to 4:00 pm).  Traffic along that section of 3rd Avenue will be restricted to one lane in each direction.  Drivers will be directed through the project area by flaggers.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
