YVSIU Update: Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting incident in Yakima

Detectives with the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit (YVSIU) continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting incident, which occurred on 05/30/22 at approximately 2357 hrs in the 1200 block of N 1st St, Yakima Wa.

The officers involved in the shooting were identified as  Jesus Sanchez and Jon Charroin with the Yakima Police Department.

The 30-year-old Yakima man involved, Zachary L Zimmerman, sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the shooting and was treated at Yakima Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Seattle Harborview Hospital for his injuries.

No officers were injured during the incident.

On 06/07/22 Zachary Zimmerman was discharged from Seattle Harborview Hospital. He was transported to the Yakima County Jail where he was booked on the charges of First-Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm RCW9.41.040(1)(a) and Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle RCW 9A.56.068 and 9A.56.140(1).
