Apple Crisp and Style Show Event set for September 19

Preparations are underway for the annual Apple Crisp Fundraising Event at the City of Yakima’s Harman Center at Gailleon Park, 101 North 65th Avenue.

The senior center event is 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Tuesday, September 19th. It will also feature a style show hosted by The Discovery Shop.

“It will be mostly women’s clothing and some accessories such as jewelry, handbags, and scarves,” said Recreation Program Supervisor Leslie Richards. “All the items modeled will be for sale, with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society.”

Proceeds from the $5 admission to the Apple Crisp event, which also includes a scoop of ice cream, will benefit Yakima Valley Senior Citizens, Inc.

“We have a pretty good turnout,” Richards said. “It’s absolutely a good time for a good cause.”

Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased in advance at the Harman Center.

The month of September also marks the return of Saturday Breakfast at the center on Saturday, September 9th. Breakfast costs $5 and is served from 8:00 am to 9:00 am each Saturday. The menu varies weekly, but may range from eggs cooked to order with sausage or bacon to French toast, quiche or biscuits and gravy.

Organizers prefer that breakfast guests register in advance by calling ahead at 575-6166 by 1:00 pm the Friday before.
