Asphalt Replacement to Impact 72nd Avenue Traffic

An asphalt replacement project will impact traffic on a section of 72nd Avenue beginning Monday, August 31st.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on 72nd Avenue between Alpine Way and West Chestnut Avenue starting Monday and continuing through the project’s completion, which is expected to take about two weeks.

Work hours for the asphalt replacement will be 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Because of heavy traffic volume, drivers can expect delays in the project area.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
