Project to Close Section of North 6th Street

North 6th Street will be closed on Monday, April 29th between D Street and E Street. The closure is required for a tree removal project during scheduled work hours of 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.  A detour will be


Arrest of Elias Huizar

The City of Yakima has recently become aware of allegations and the subsequent arrest of a former employee, Elias Huizar, by the West Richland Police Department. Huizar has not been employed by the City of Yakima since February 2022.  The investigation of the allegations against Huizar is being conducted by the West Richland Police Department.


City of Yakima on Two-Hour Delay

Due to icy road conditions, all City of Yakima facilities will be opening two-hours later than normal today, January 23rd, 2024.  Yakima Transit is also on a two-hour delay today. If conditions warrant a change to this announcement, updates will be provided.
