A broken pipe has resulted in the temporary shutdown of part of an irrigation system that serves the area of town bordered by North 1st Street, North 8th Street, “I” Street, and Pine Street.
The shutdown of a portion of what’s known as the “308 System” may also result in lower irrigation water pressures in the area between 1st Street, Fair Avenue, Pine Street, and East Nob Hill Boulevard.
Replacement of the broken pipe is expected to be completed and irrigation service restored to customers by late this week.
“We have expedited the process to get the broken pipe replaced,” said Irrigation Supervisor Richard Sanislo. “We apologize to customers for any inconvenience the temporary shutoff might cause,” said Sanislo. “The system will be back up and running as soon as possible.”
As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, shipping issues, and emergencies.
Customers who have questions about the temporary shutoff of part of the 308 System can contact the City of Yakima’s Water/Irrigation Division at 509-575-6194.
