City of Yakima Permit Center Changing its Hours

The City of Yakima’s Permit Center will open 30 minutes later each day due to an increasing rate of construction and permit detail. Beginning Wednesday, February 13th, the Permit Center will open at 8:30 am instead of 8:00 am. It will continue to close at 5:00 pm each day.

“January 2019 showed a significant increase in construction activity, nearly $5 million more than in January 2018,” said Code Administration Manager Joe Caruso. “Because of this increased activity, it is necessary to open the Permit Center 30 minutes later so staff can conduct necessary administrative duties to start the next business day. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

January 2019 continued a building growth trend in the City of Yakima. During 2018, new building starts in the city were valued at $112,279,486, well above the $81,457,182 in new valuation for 2017.
