Community Christmas Tree Arrives Nov. 22nd

Preparations are under way for the arrival of Yakima’s Community Christmas Tree on Monday, November 22nd.

The Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) crew in partnership with the City of Yakima Public Works Division and Russell Crane will secure a tree provided by a Yakima area residence, move the tree to Millennium Plaza, and place the tree into the ground on Monday.

The tree’s arrival will not impact traffic, though parking spaces adjacent to Millennium Plaza on 3rd Street will be closed to accommodate the installation.

The tree is approximately 40 feet in height prior to grooming and trimming for installation.

Plans for transporting the tree to Downtown Yakima are subject to change and dependent on weather and equipment.

The official tree lighting ceremony will be Sunday, December 5th, at the conclusion of Downtown Yakima’s annual Holiday Lighted Parade. The parade starts at 5:00 pm and is scheduled to conclude at 8:00 pm.

Volunteers with DAY will hang lights on trees in the Plaza area prior to the parade and lighting ceremony.
