Preparations are under way for the arrival of Yakima’s Community Christmas Tree tomorrow, Tuesday, November 26th.
The tree arrival at Millennium Plaza is estimated to be between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm tomorrow.
The Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) crew, with the assistance of the City of Yakima, will secure a tree provided by a Yakima area residence, move the tree to Millennium Plaza, and secure the tree into the ground.
The tree’s arrival will not impact traffic, though parking spaces adjacent to Millennium Plaza on 3rd Street will be closed to accommodate the installation.
Plans for transporting the tree to Downtown Yakima tomorrow are subject to change dependent on weather and equipment.
The official tree lighting ceremony will be Sunday, December 8th, at the conclusion of Downtown Yakima’s annual Holiday Lighted Parade. The parade starts at 6:00 pm.
Volunteers with DAY will be hanging lights on trees in the Plaza area prior to the parade and lighting ceremony.
