The 10th Annual Yakima Police Department Cop on Top fundraiser for Special Olympics is set to take place at Top Foods on South First Street in Union Gap on Thursday, June 6th and Friday June 7th. (10:00am Thursday until 6:00pm Friday). This event benefits Yakima Special Olympic athletes by enabling them to participate in a wide variety of athletic events in the region throughout the year.
As with all Yakima Special Olympics events, the funds raised stay local to support our 800-plus athletes in the Yakima region.
Over the past nine years, “Cop on Top” has netted nearly $30,000 for Yakima Special Olympics athletes. A special thanks goes out in advance to the community at large as well as to Top Foods (Haggen Foods) for the continued support shown to our athletes.
The local media outlets covering this event are also considered key partners in the effort to raise awareness of fundraising campaigns and of Special Olympics in general. Additionally, the Yakima Fire Department continues its longstanding participation on day one with the placement of the Cop on Top.
