Council Members to Host Neighborhood Forum

The Yakima City Council will continue its series of neighborhood forums next Wednesday, March 7.

The forum, like the previous eight, will provide community members an opportunity to share concerns about public safety issues. The March 7th forum will be at 6:00 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 North 48th Avenue. It will be hosted by Yakima City Council members Holly Cousens and Brad Hill. It will be conducted in English with Spanish-language translation provided.

“The input we’re receiving from neighborhoods throughout Yakima is crucial,” Cousens said. “These comments from the community will help the City Council in developing a long-term strategy to address public safety concerns.”

Four of the forums were held just last month. Public safety concerns residents raised during those meetings ranged from school security to a lack of sidewalks in some neighborhoods.

“We understand schedules can get pretty busy, so it’s encouraging to see folks take the time to share with us about public safety,” said Hill. “We appreciate their participation.”

The City Council announced plans last year for several neighborhood forums to be held throughout Yakima in order to gather feedback from community members regarding public safety issues.
