Drinking Water System Work Will Affect Traffic on North 16th Avenue

The replacement of a mainline water valve will disrupt traffic on North 16th Avenue between McKinley and Cherry/Englewood Avenue on Wednesday, June 18th. The work will begin at 4:00 am and should be complete by 3:30 pm

The northbound lanes of 16th Avenue between Roosevelt Avenue and Cherry/Englewood Avenue will be closed to allow for replacement of an aging mainline valve. The work will not affect southbound traffic on 16th Avenue

A detour will be available around the road work, but because of heavy traffic volume on 16th Avenue, motorists can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For more information about the project, contact Emilio Lopez, Acting Water Distribution Supervisor at 575-6196
