The City of Yakima Franklin Pool is closed today, Tuesday, due to unhealthy air quality caused by smoke from wildfires in the region, in particular the Schneider Springs Fire.

The Washington State Department of Ecology has issued an Air Quality Alert for the Yakima area that is in effect through 12:00 pm tomorrow, Wednesday.

The Air Quality Index for the Yakima area currently exceeds 150, which is considered unhealthy.
